# Rituals & Awakening

### 🧛‍Overview

The rise of the **7,500 New Vamps** introduces two powerful methods to acquire these next-gen fanged fiends: **Awakenings** and **Rituals**. This guide breaks down both systems and how to master them for optimal vamp collection.

### 🔥 Awakening

**Awakenings** are on-chain transformations where players trade in [**Legacy Vamps**](https://www.jpg.store/collection/vampireinvasion?tab=items) to unlock the new breed. Up to **4,000** Vamps can be acquired this way. Here's how it works:

**🧮 Legacy Vamp Point System**

Each Legacy Vamp is worth points based on metadata:

Holding a **1/1** or **unique Legacy Vamp(like Bards, Deadpxlz and more)**? Choose wisely. These will receive **special treatment** once the 1/1 creation process for **Derp Birds** and **Preds** is finalized. Burning them now might mean missing out on something... legendary later.

You can combine multiple legacy vamps to reach the point cost for your desired new vamp.

**🎯 New Vamp Costs by Rank/Age**

> 🧬 **Max Rank from Awaken: Rank 4**\
> Awakenings **cannot yield Rank 5** vamps. The highest possible rank from this method is **Rank 4**, which may occur via chance.

**🔮 Chance at a Rank 4 Vamp**

When trading in for a lower-rank vamp, there’s a small chance you’ll receive a Rank 4 vamp instead.

### **🔁 How to Awaken**

1. **Head to Rituals** from the *Adventures* Home Screen.
2. Select the **Rank/Age** of the vamp you want.
3. View your Legacy Vamps and their point values.
4. Select which vamps to burn to meet your goal.
5. Confirm and sign the transaction.
6. Receive your **new vamp** instantly.

### 💸 **Awakening Cost**

Each Awakening costs **25,000 Derp Dollars (DD)** or **250 $DERP tokens** to perform. This is in addition to the required Legacy Vamps for point trade-in.

> 🧬 All trades are **permanent** and processed **on-chain**. Legacy vamps are burned and cannot be recovered.

### 📜 Rituals&#x20;

Crafting returns in a vampiric form. **3,500 Vamps** can be summoned through Rituals, a system inspired by Season 1 crafting but powered by **Tomes** and **Materials**.

> 🧬 **Max Rank from Rituals: Rank 5**\
> Rituals are the **only** way to obtain a **Rank 5** vamp. The rank/age of the resulting vamp depends on the **Tome** used.

* **1 Tome** (obtainable via [*Discovery*](/derp-birds/adventures/seasons/season-02/discovery.md))
* **Crafting Materials** (from [*Nocturnal Hunts*](/derp-birds/adventures/seasons/season-02/nocturnal-hunts.md))
* **Optional Derp Dollars** (for speed-up)

> ⚠️ You can **only hold one Tome** at a time.

### 💰 **Ritual Costs by Tome**

Rituals scale in cost based on the Tome being used:

### **⏳ Ritual Flow**

1. Visit **Rituals** in the *Adventures* section.
2. View your active Tome and its required materials.
3. If needed, gather resources via Hunts or grab a Tome in Discovery.
4. Start the ritual.
5. Wait **12 hours** for the ritual to complete (or skip with Derp Dollars).
6. Reveal your vamp in a classic **S1-style animation**.
7. Choose the wallet to send your vamp to.

> 💡 **Rituals burn your tome and materials.** Choose wisely!

**🧬 On vs Off-Chain Creation**

Players will have the option to mint their new vamps **on-chain** or **off-chain**, depending on their preferred ownership model.
