After the departure of the female birds, the remaining derps developed incubation technology with the help of outside sources. This technology allowed the all-male derps to create their offspring, the Derplings.
A maximum of 7,500 Derplings were allowed to hatch from the 15,000 total Derp Eggs incubated. They are historically significant on the Cardano blockchain as the first collection minted using multi-sig transactions.

In 2021, legacy birds could use The Incubator to create Derp Eggs, which hatched into Derplings. Holders who keep families(Derp Birds and their Derpling children) together gain some bonuses throughout the Derp ecosystem.
Happy Family Achievevement
Having a Derp Bird and his Derpling child together in the same account will grant the user the Happy Family achievement which gives the user Derp Dollars each epoch. Users can stack this achievement for each family that they have.
If users send a Derpling child of a Derp Bird as a supporting character on an adventure, they get a Power Score boost for that adventure.
Users can find family members of a Derp Bird or Derpling by navigating to that character in the Derp App and viewing the tab; for example, this derp bird had one derp egg that was hatched into a Derpling. The Derp Marketplace will also show users any family members listed for sale.
