# The Preds

## :point\_right: The Basics

* Preds are a [primary character](#user-content-fn-1)[^1] of Derpetonia
* Preds have a rank of 1 through 4; each rank level adds a new attribute
* Preds are linked to the [Legacy Derp Bird](https://guide.derpbirds.io/derp-birds/characters/other-collections/legacy-derp-birds-deprecated) or [Derpling](https://guide.derpbirds.io/derp-birds/characters/main-collections/the-derplings) that was captured to create(mint) them
* A Pred that has all matching attributes of a single archetype is called a **Pure Pred**

Pred are the enemies of Derpetonia and are the other primary character collection of the project. Preds were created by giving up a [Legacy Derp Bird](https://guide.derpbirds.io/derp-birds/characters/other-collections/legacy-derp-birds-deprecated) or a [Derpling](https://guide.derpbirds.io/derp-birds/characters/main-collections/the-derplings) and at least one [Derp Egg.](https://guide.derpbirds.io/derp-birds/characters/other-collections/eggs-shards) Their origins and motivations for attacking Derpetonia are still unknown.

### Archetypes and Pure Preds

All Pred traits come from 1 of 14 archetypes. Any Pred that has all matching attributes from 1 archetype is called a Pure Pred. Among other benefits, Pure Preds also has unique background artwork.
